Basic Info
Name:Lucius Hunt
Bio
Lucius Hunt comes from M. Night Shyamalan's The Village . Apparently an 1800's settlement where the people seem at peace and happy, but for one thing. Those We Don't Speak Of mysterious and deadly creatures who exist within the surrounding woods. In effort to keep the evil at bay, the people dress in earthy tones, Let the bad color not be seen. It attracts them. They must not wear red, nor permit it anywhere within the village, not even a single plant or flower. When the creatures come, they leave red markings on the doors of those who have displeased them. Sometimes they also leave the skinned carcases of woodland creatures, flayed by their vicious long claws as expertly as if by a well sharpened knife.

There is a test among the boys within the village, a test of courage, and of manhood. A boy goes to stand upon one of the great stumps between the towers that watch over the woods. He turns his back toward the wood and closes his eyes, standing with his arms out. He stands for as long as his courage will hold him, until his nerve breaks. Lucius holds the record, for he does not fear that their hot breath or sharp claws will slice into him from behind. He fears nothing, only thinks of what must be done. He respects the creatures, but he does not fear them. When a young child dies of illness, he petitions the Elders to allow him to travel through the woods. He petitions again when he discovers that Noah Percy, a boy who's mind is touched, has gone in and not been harmed. He believes that the creatures will recognize his honesty, and the pureness of his purpose. For their village has no doctor, and he wants to travel to The Towns in order to procure medicines that might be helpful.

But when Lucius goes into the woods, the creatures attack the town at night to show their displeasure. In the darkness of night, within the dark of her own blindness, Ivy Walker stands in the doorway of her home with one hand outstretched. Lucius comes, as she knows that he will, because she knows of the love that he will not tell her he feels. They hide in a special room beneath the floorboards of the Walker home, hands held tight as they wait until it is safe to come out again. Lucius is unable to speak whats in his head and in his heart, because Ivy's sister Kitty thinks that she is in love with him... and because it is not within his nature to speak of the things that he knows, the secrets that others keep, or even of his own.

Perhaps it is because of what they call his quiet way that Lucius sees so much that others do not. He sees the way Edward Hunt, Ivy's Father, never touches his mother when they are together. Ivy tells him one day that she understands why he refused her sister, Kitty... and she understands why he never touches her anymore, even though he used to. It is the same reason that Edwart Hunt and Lucius's Mother never touch each other. Sometimes we don't do things we want to do so that others will not know we want to do them. Still, Love cannot be denied, because Ivy will not allow Lucius to continue ignoring it. When her sister Kitty finds a new love, she asks Lucius if he will dance with her at their wedding, which upsets him. After a brief tirade he admits that yes, he will dance with her on their wedding night. He also admits that for all he is fearless in nearly every way, he is frightened of the idea that something might happen to her. Their engagement is announced the next day, the village prepares to celebrate.

All but poor mad Noah Percy, who loves Ivy too, and commits the first violence within the village's known history. The medicine that Lucius wanted to bring back for the others, is now desperately needed to save his life. With Love, and her father's secrets, to guide her through to the Towns, Ivy goes.

What secrets are revealed because of this chain of circumstances, is not yet known. Lucius is on the mend, with Ivy as his guardian angel. The Elders fear for thier peaceful existence, frightened that the outside world will encroach now that they have made contact with it again. No one knows what tomorrow will bring, and only a small handfull know why the Elders walk on eggshells.

They thought they could keep the world out, but to save Lucius and Ivy's love, they risk letting it in.
